Born in eastern Scotland in 1964, I’ve worked in environmental communications since 1993 as a photographer, designer and writer. I have thousands of image publication credits and have published over half a million words (including 6 books).
My MA degree is in Geography and Contemporary European studies (2:1) and was obtained at the University of Dundee (1993) after an earlier career as a berry farmer in eastern Scotland.
I am a regular keynote speaker at conferences at home and abroad and have spoken in Alaska, The UK, Norway, Israel, Germany and Spain to audiences up to 1000.
With my wife Charlotte (a professional chocolatier) I am a guide for Iceland-based Wild Photography Holidays, leading tours in Scotland and Iceland.
My varied work life now encompasses working with clients to create communications materials, teaching, tour leading, writing e-books and design, writing and photography commissions.
I was born what Prof. Howard Gardner calls, “Nature Smart”. I’m proud father of Eliot and Iona and step-dad of Emily.
