(Charlotte and Niall are married and work together on a diverse range of projects)
I spent over 25 years working for the UK Civil Service, although spent as much of my spare time outdoors as possible. A few years ago, the opportunity to leave the Service and retrain came up and I jumped at the chance to deepen and broaden my cooking skills. One of the courses was with Ruth Hinks, the UK’s current “Chocolate Master” and after the first day, I realised I had found what I wanted to do: make chocolate. With Niall’s input, I’ve established the Carlotta’s Chocolate brand and our own distinctive products and we were very pleased to receive our first Great Taste Award last year from the Guild of Fine Foods.
I enjoy providing the hospitality for the tours we lead jointly for Wild Photography Holidays as well as having photographers and chocolate enthusiasts come to stay with us for workshops in our own home. I take photographs too so that we an actually tell where we’ve been – not always possible when the subject is on a white background! We’re both interested in developing ideas and have collaborated on concepts for the 2020VISION project as well as Meet Your Neighbours.
Like Niall, I am very fond of northern places, especially if there is a chance to ski, and am equally attached to the area of France (The Morvan) where my parents live.
