Seminar at Konnevesi, Finland
June 23, 2014. Charlotte and I have just returned from a fabulous weekend at Konnesvesi Research Station (which is attached to the University of Jyvaskyla), Finland, on the invitation of Sam Waldron and Steve Heap. The theory, practice and applications of the field studio technique within the scientific community provided a focus although there was extra time for all the fun associated with Juhannus – the Finnish mid-summer festival. This seminar, with mostly PhD students, acted as a great exchange for ideas and opened our eyes to some potential scientific applications for the technique, especially in computer-aided image analysis which calls for clear differentiation between subject and background.
