Fixed point photography commission for SNH
June 3, 2013. I recently won a contract for fixed point photography at Beinn Eighe NNR, Wester Ross, Scotland put out to tender by Scottish Natural Heritage, the government’s conservation agency in Scotland. This undertaking involves identifying and re-photographing 20 previously documented sites (including at least one dating back to the 1930s) and, with the reserve management, picking a further 30 for documentation. This will result in the production of an archive of GPS tagged images that will provide a baseline for vegetation studies in future decades. There is also an element of graft as well as I have to transport and instal a 5 kg metal spike at each location in the mountains – a challenge when you have to carry four at a time.
